Instead of working 40… or 50 or 60… hours a week, or going to college, what if you could spend 3-6 months to just worship, pray, and learn the bible? How could your relationship with God change? How could your life change?
I get to see that question answered in people’s lives every 3 months. I came to Kansas City to join the International House of Prayer on July 4, 2009. I joined Intro to IHOP, a 3 month internship that focuses on drawing you into deep intimacy and understanding of Jesus. At the end of the internship I was asked to join the staff, and as of January 2012, I am serving my 10th internship leading teams of interns through this program.
We have meals together, share each others testimonies, help coach them through issues of the heart, spend 24 hours a week in the prayer room, and hear 12 weeks of amazing bible teachers go deep in the Word. At the end of each internship we have a time for the interns to share what God has done in their lives. Though we see it again and again we are still in awe of how profoundly God changes lives in just 12 weeks.
As a person who has a heart for shepherding people, I have been able to see God break in firsthand for person after person as I journey along with them, see God heal many wounds from the past, and see people refreshed with new passion for pursuing Christ. It is both challenging in walking intimately with people through the issues of life and exhilarating in seeing what God does as they grow more in unity with the leadership of Christ over their life.
In just 3-6 months people are being awakened to who they are as sons and daughters of God, deeply rooted in their understanding of the bible, and serving Jesus diligently, not out of obligation, but out of the overflow of God’s love dwelling in their hearts.
IHOP has followed the example of YWAM (Youth with a Mission) and CCFC (Campus crusade for Christ), the two largest missions organizations in the world totaling nearly 50,000 staff in over 190 countries, in requiring all their missionaries to raise their own support. This allows the ministry of IHOP to train and equip more messengers to carry the gospel to the nations. My position does not have a salary or work scholarship, so all my support must come through the body of Christ.

What a passion for the Lord you have and what a privilege it is to sit in his presence and soak the very most being of Him in such a deep intimate way. A way we do hear from Him so we can go out and do His work and will, reaching the nations as you are doing right now. God is so good and He longs for us to draw near to Him, if we could all just set away our selfishness and our agenda and just listen and walk where He wants us to walk. I am again excited for you and your walk with him and I pray many blessings to you and cover you in the blood of Jesus going out into this world bringing in the lost, with your heart of Christ.
